At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan expressed his pleasure to welcome Ms. Marie C. Damour; and inform generally about the characteristics, strengths and development orientation of Khanh Hoa. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also thanked the help of the Government and people of the United States over the past time, which have supported Vietnam in general and Khanh Hoa in particular in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic. He also expressed his wish that in the coming time, the Consulate General would pay attention to support and introduce scholarship programs, training programs, and English language teaching for high schools, universities and cadres and diplomatic civil servants in Khanh Hoa province; create favorable conditions for Vietnamese citizens to visit relatives in the United States; support to promote cooperation between the two sides in the fields of tourism, education, health care and investment; calling and guiding US businesses and organizations to invest in Van Phong Bay, Nha Trang Bay, especially in clean energy, logistics, marine farming in modern industry...
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Marie C. Damour expressed her delight at the growing cooperation relationship between the U.S - Vietnam in general and the U.S - Khanh Hoa in particular. It is known that over the past time, Khanh Hoa province and the United States have implemented many cooperation programs and activities in the fields of education and training, technology, health... such as: Khanh Hoa province has coordinated with Ministries and central branches, agencies together with U.S partners to organize many important international events (the 1st meeting of senior officials, related conferences within the framework of the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum - in 2017; Pacific Partnership Program 2017 and 2018…); Nha Trang University signed a understanding memorandum on cooperation with universities and research institutes of the United States (Western Michigan University, Ohio University, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, National Museum of Natural History - Smithsonian Institute, University of Rhode Island); The Department of Foreign Affairs coordinates with the Regional English Office - the US Embassy in Vietnam and the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City to organize English language training courses for provincial officials and civil servants; US agencies and units have sponsored and cooperated in implementing projects related to Khanh Hoa (Project "Conservational genetics for improving biodiversity and enhancing resource management for natural resources with change in the Mekong Delta"; Research project "Building a research network on biodiversity genetic resources in the Mekong River"; Project on General genetics of natural history of Fish species caught in the Mekong River"; Project "Comparative study on the resilience of coral reefs in South Vietnam waters to conserve marine biodiversity under impact in a changing world".
