In the morning of June 5, the Ministry of Industry and Trade cooperated with Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to organize a national online conference on supporting SMEs to take advantage of opportunities and effectively implement the European- Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). At the conference, the Ministry of Industry and Trade assessed that the EVFTA will impact many aspects of the economy in a positive way, helping boost Vietnam's export to the European Union (EU) market; it is expected that by 2030, export will increase by 12% when fully implementing the commitments in the agreement. In order to exploit the opportunity of trade promotion into the EU market when the EVFTA comes into effect, The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed that relevant ministries, branches, provinces and municipalities should develop programs to support the manufacture of quality products, ready to participate in the EU market; direct trade promotion activities in connection with regions in order to promote and develop markets for products with export potential. Trade promotion agencies, commodity associations need to improve the quality of their operations in order to provide timely and reputable support to enterprises with information on export policies and markets, especially legal guidance to take advantage of EVFTA when exporting to the EU market; regularly assess the needs and capabilities of enterprises, grasp market trends from which to come up with appropriate trade promotion plans ... In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also proposed that SMEs should proactively study relevant information to invest in developing products that meet EU standards and regulations on imported goods; apply advanced quality standard systems to meet the increasingly stringent technical requirements of each market; reduce production costs, diversify models and packaging suitable to the tastes of export markets ...
