On March 27, 2026, Mr. Le
Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee welcomed Ms.
Alexandra Smith, British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City who visited and
worked in Khanh Hoa province.

At the meeting, Mr. Le
Huyen expressed his pleasure in welcoming the delegation to visit and work in
Khanh Hoa province. He also emphasized that the cooperative relationship
between Khanh Hoa province and British localities and partners has developed
well in many fields over the past time. Tourism is a highlight, as evidenced by
the continued growth in the number of British tourists visiting Khanh Hoa. The
province currently has 8 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects from British
investors with a total registered investment capital of US$199.62 million,
mainly in the tourism sector (4/8 projects). The
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also informed the delegation
about the potential and strengths of Khanh Hoa province, about the province's
focus on promoting double-digit economic growth in the period 2026-2030 and the
following years; aiming to make Khanh Hoa a centrally-governed city by 2027.
Through this trip, Vice Chairman of the
Provincial People's Committee Le Huyen also expressed his hope that the Consul
General and the British Consulate General would act as a bridge, supporting the
province in introducing and connecting with British investors and businesses to
explore opportunities for cooperation, investment, and trade promotion;
Expanding tourism cooperation between the two
sides through activities such as organizing Famtrip tours and opening direct
flights; supporting the province in connecting with green investment funds and
financial institutions in the UK to mobilize capital and learn from experience
in managing green finance for sustainable development projects, climate change
adaptation, green transformation, and digital transformation in the province;
supporting the development of joint training programs according to
international standards, training high-quality human resources, etc.

Speaking at the meeting,
Ms. Alexandra Smith said that in October 2025, Vietnam and the United Kingdom
will officially upgrade their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,
marking a historic and far-reaching development in all fields. The United
Kingdom also supports Vietnam with many full scholarship programs, focusing on
postgraduate studies and young leadership development; and is committed to
accompanying Vietnam towards the goal of net zero emissions through financial
and technical support, notably green finance packages and capacity building for
officials.
During this visit, the
Consul General hopes to concretize the bilateral cooperation between the two
countries through joint training programs at Nha Trang University and Pacific
University; digital transformation programs in the healthcare sector; seafood
exports; green finance; public transportation, etc.

In 2024, the number of British
tourists visiting Khanh Hoa was 19,026, increasing to 22,279 in 2025 (a 17%
increase). In the first two months of 2026, the province welcomed 5,593
British tourists (out of a total of 1.59 million international tourists).
In
terms of trade, the total import and export turnover between Khanh Hoa and
the UK in 2025 is projected to be US$44.63 million. Of this, Khanh Hoa's
exports to the UK market in 2025 are expected to reach over US$43.14 million,
primarily consisting of seafood, textiles, garments, wood, rattan, bamboo,
sedge, carpets, and coffee (increased 7% compared to US$40.3 million in
2024). Imports from the UK market in 2025 are expected to reach nearly US$1.5
million, primarily consisting of seafood, iron and steel, and machinery and
equipment (increased 73% compared to US$864.2 thousand in 2024).
