On the afternoon of July 16th, Mr. Ho Xuan Truong, Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Standing Deputy Secretary of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee welcomed Ms. Khamphao Ernthavanh, Ambassador of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam, and her delegation attending the Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2026. Also present at the meeting were Mr. Phonesy Bounmixay, Consul General of Laos in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Vice Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee; and leaders of various departments and agencies.

During the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary Ho Xuan Truong provided an overview of the socio-economic development of Khanh Hoa province after the merger; and emphasized the province's outstanding advantages in marine economy, tourism, logistics, seaports, and energy. Mr. Ho Xuan Truong stated that Khanh Hoa province is focusing on effectively utilizing mechanisms and policies, determined to achieve double-digit economic growth and build Khanh Hoa into a centrally-governed city.

Based on the foundation of the "special friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive strategic cooperation" relationship between Vietnam and Laos, Mr. Ho Xuan Truong emphasized that Khanh Hoa province always considers strengthening cooperative relations with localities in Laos as one of the priorities in its foreign affairs work. Currently, the province maintains cooperative relations with Champasak, Attapu, and Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Khanh Hoa province will continue to expand cooperation with many other localities in the fields of trade, investment, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges, contributing to further deepening the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Ho Xuan Truong also expressed his hope that Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh and Consul General Phonesy Bounmixay would continue to pay attention to support, and act as a bridge to promote cooperation between Khanh Hoa and localities in Laos, making it increasingly in-depth, substantive, and effective in all fields.

Speaking at the reception, Ms. Khamphao Ernthavanh thanked the leaders of Khanh Hoa province for their warm welcome and expressed her admiration for the province's meticulous preparations for the Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2026. Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh said that during her more than three years of service in Vietnam, she has always received the attention and support of leaders at all levels and localities, including Khanh Hoa province. She also affirmed that the special friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos have continued to be strengthened and developed in many fields, especially in human resource training cooperation.

Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh expressed his hope that in the coming time, Khanh Hoa province and localities of Laos will continue to strengthen ties and expand cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, and investment; creating conditions for the business communities of both sides to enhance connections and explore cooperation opportunities, especially in the fields of tourism and agriculture, contributing to achieving the goal of increasing bilateral trade turnover to 5 billion USD by 2030.
