Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Ha expressed his gratitude for the warm reception of the Lorient city authorities and SELLOR. He noted that Khanh Hoa possesses significant potential and advantages for marine economic development, featuring renowned bays such as Nha Trang, Cam Ranh, and Van Phong, alongside an extensive coastline and abundant marine resources. In implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution No. 09 and the province's tourism development strategy for the 2026-2030 period (with a vision toward 2045), the province is formulating major policies and strategic directions to effectively leverage these advantages. The goal is to transform Khanh Hoa into a center for the marine economy, high-quality tourism, and marine sports, as well as a venue for hosting regional and international marine cultural and sporting events. Consequently, the province pay attention to Lorient’s practical experience in developing a marine economic ecosystem and managing tourism-related facilities.

Overview of the working session.
During the working session, both sides discussed many important topics, including experience in planning, managing, and operating marinas and tourist ports; public-private partnership models in investing and operating infrastructure; developing logistical and commercial services linked with marinas to enhance value addition for the industry.
In addition, the two sides exchanged experiences in organizing large-scale sailing races and maritime events such as infrastructure preparation, safety assurance, operational management, the mobilization of socialized resources, and the promotion of the local image. Furthermore, both sides discussed the possibility of cooperation in human resource training, destination management, business networking, and investment promotion in related fields.
After the working session, the delegation visited and surveyed the Cité de la Voile Eric Tabarly and the Maison des Skippers (facilities located within Lorient La Base, a site transformed from a former military base into a premier French center for the maritime economy, tourism, and sports). The visit aimed to gain insights into the operations of maritime cultural and sports facilities, the application of technology in exhibitions and marine education, and the support provided for hosting international sailing competition. Built in 2008 on the site of a former World War II German submarine base, the Cité de la Voile Eric Tabarly is currently the only multimedia exhibition center in Europe dedicated to ocean racing. Named after the legendary sailor Eric Tabarly, the center showcases the history, boat-building technology, and culture of ocean racing through interactive exhibits, attracting tens of thousands of visitors annually. Nearby stands the Maison des Skippers, a facility spanning over 3,000 square meters that integrates training services, offices, and logistical support for skippers and professional racing crews competing in international classes such as IMOCA and Figaro.
