On the afternoon of August 22nd, Mr. Tran Quoc Nam - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Khanh Hoa province chaired a meeting and worked with Mr. Jaya Ratnam - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Vietnam; Colonel Rinson Chua Hon Liat - Commander of the Singapore Maritime Training and Doctrine Command and the Command team of RSS Persistence ship.

At the meeting, Mr. Tran Quoc Nam said that Khanh Hoa province currently has 162 FDI projects with a total registered capital of more than 5.2 billion USD, of which Singapore is one of the major investors with 23 projects, a total capital of nearly 1 billion USD (accounting for 19.06% of the total FDI capital of the province) focusing on the following areas: Aquaculture, trade - services, tourism, industry, energy and education - training. Regarding to trade, in 2024, the province's export turnover to the Singapore market reached 153.5 million USD (accounting for 7.1% of the province's total export turnover); in the first 6 months of 2025, this figure reached 60.3 million USD. The main export items include ships, seafood, textiles, coffee beans, wood products, construction stones and some other goods. On the other hand, in 2024, import turnover from Singapore reached 42.2 million USD (accounting for 3% of total import turnover), in the first 6 months of 2025 it reached 29.6 million USD. Imported goods are mainly raw materials for tobacco production, textiles, iron, steel, machinery and equipment, chemicals, animal feed,... In addition, the provincial leaders also introduced to the working delegation the 4 pillars of economic growth of the province (industry, energy, tourism - services, urban - construction) and key areas with investment potential of Khanh Hoa province...

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also expressed his hope that the Ambassador would act as a bridge to bring Singaporean agencies, organizations and enterprises to visit, work and cooperate with the province in the coming time in areas where both sides have potential and strengths, especially in the fields of marine economy, artificial intelligence, digital technology, renewable energy, high-tech industry; support connecting airlines, travel businesses and Singaporean tourism promotion agencies to promote and effectively exploit the Khanh Hoa - Singapore flight route... Mr. Tran Quoc Nam also assigned the Department of Industry and Trade and specialized sectors of the province to support Singaporean delegations to learn and cooperate on nuclear power technology and connect with universities in the province in training to improve the quality of human resources...

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Jaya Ratnam congratulated Khanh Hoa province on its socio-economic achievements in recent times; and thanked the province for its warm welcome. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Vietnam expressed his belief that in the coming time, Khanh Hoa province and Singaporean agencies, units and enterprises will continue to connect and develop the sectors and fields that have cooperated; and proposed two new areas for deeper and broader cooperation with Khanh Hoa province, including: Support connection and cooperation with universities in the province. Cooperate in investment and import of green energy and renewable energy; create favorable conditions for Singaporean delegations to come to Khanh Hoa to learn experiences and exchange information on building nuclear power plants; support Singaporean enterprises and corporations to invest in VSIP industrial park in the locality. On this occasion, the Ambassador also invited leaders of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee and agencies, units and enterprises of the province to attend meetings, exchanges and discuss cooperation potential with Singaporean units and enterprises.
