According to the report of provincial Department of Tourism, due to the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic, the number of tourists to Khanh Hoa decreased strongly in February 2020.

It is estimated that in February, the whole province welcomed 130,000 visitors, as of 23.2% over the same period in 2019. In which, there are 70,000 international visitors, as of 23.5%; 60,000 domestic visitors, equal to 30% compared to the same period in 2019. With a sharp decrease, the number of accommodation rooms is nearly 50,000 rooms; the average room capacity in the province is only about 21.7 %. The total revenue from tourists in the province was estimated at 731.4 billion Dong, as 21.9% of the same period last year.
From the early of February until now, Khanh Hoa has only welcomed 3 cruise ships including: Norwegian Jade (Bahamas nationality), Celebrity Millennium (Malta), Sapphire Princess (UK) with about 5,000 tourists visiting, equal to 50% compared to January 2020. The number of tourists travelling by cruise to Khanh Hoa decreased due to many cruise ships have canceled their schedules to Vietnam, after Aida Vita (Dutch nationality) was not allowed to dock in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh because of worried about the spreading the Covid-19 epidemic. After this incident, 6 cruise ships canceled the schedule to take tourists to Khanh Hoa. Currently, shipping agents have also announced that in March 2020, they will cancel 5 cruise ships to Khanh Hoa compared to the schedule previously registered.
It is estimated that by the end of February, Khanh Hoa welcomed 618,621 visitors, equal to 58,% compared to the same period in 2019. In which 368,798 international visitors, equal to 63.2%, 249,823 domestic visitors, equal to 53,1% over the same period in 2019. Tourism revenue in the first two months of 2020 is estimated at VND 3,744.4 billion, equal to 59.2% over the same period.
Although up to February 26th, Khanh Hoa was declared off Covid-19 by the Ministry of Health, it is still difficult to attract tourists. The Chinese tourist market (accounting for 70% of the province's international visitors) has almost completely stopped since the beginning of February. Currently, the connecting flights between China and Vietnam have not been reopened. The Korean tourist market is also declining due to an outbreak in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province from February 18th to the present. Flights from South Korea to Cam Ranh decreased significantly in recent days.
