On the afternoon of February 28th 2018, Mr. Tran Son Hai - Mr Tran Son Hai- Member of Provincial Standing Committee, Permanent Deputy Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee presided over meeting with Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and other departments about the survey, assessment on land use efficiency of solar power projects in the province.

At the meeting, after listening to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development reported the results of survey and assessment on land use, Mr. Tran Son Hai agreed the policy on investment in a solar power plant for 19 of the total 24 surveyed projects; At the same time, it is proposed to suspend, report and ask the opinions of the Standing Committee of the provincial Party Committee and the Central Committee for the projects: Central Power Solar Power Plant, Ninh Phung Solar Power Plant (Ninh Hoa Town) , KN Van Ninh Solar Power Plant (Van Hung commune, Van Ninh district); Request the Ninh Hoa Town People's Committee to consider and report in writing to the Ninh Hoa District Party Committee Standing Committee for the Tuan An Solar Power Plant Project in Ninh Da; Disagree implementation of Solar Energy Project Kieu Thi Italy (Cam An Nam commune, Cam Lam district). In addition, Mr. Tran Son Hai also proposed removing the area of sugar cane from the project area.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in January 2018, the unit has coordinated with related sectors and localities to survey 24 solar power projects in Cam Lam district, Van Ninh district, Ninh Hoa Commune, Cam Ranh City. In which, 14 projects have been submitted by the provincial People's Committee to the Provincial People's Council to recover land. The survey results showed that most of the proposed sites are favorable for the implementation of solar power projects (arid soils, rocky terrain, no irrigation water, slow growing plants ...). Particularly, the proposed area for the solar project of the Central Electric Solar Power Plant is flat and has sugarcane; it is not suitable for investment. Although KN Van Ninh Solar Power Plant is located in suitable area, it is in the establishment project of special administrative and economic unit in Northern Van Phong.
