In the morning of July 31st, Mr. Nguyen Khac Dinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee had a meeting with the representative of Millennium Liquefied Natural Gas Company (LNG) - United States (Millennium Company).

At the meeting, after listening to the ideas and suggestions of Millennium Company’s representative, Mr. Nguyen Khac Dinh affirmed that Khanh Hoa province always welcomes, encourages and creates favorable conditions for investors to research and implement the project in Van Phong area. Mr. Nguyen Khac Dinh also said that the ideas of implementation of the LNG Center Project and Millennium Power Plant is consistent with the potential and orientation of industrial development in this area; conditions and capacity of investors are also very good and convenient to implement the project. Khanh Hoa is ready to sign an agreement with Millennium Company so that investors can research and deploy the project; at the same time, he hopes that the Company will promptly study the project, ensuring high feasibility.
In order to implement the opinion of the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan assigned Van Phong Economic Zone Management Board to implement the agreement to allow Millennium Company to survey and research projects in Van Phong area. Departments and sectors urgently report to the provincial People's Committee on resettlement for people in the project area. In addition, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan desires investors to actively coordinate with the province to remove obstacles to early study the feasibility of the project.
According to Millennium Company, the LNG Center Project (over 10 million m3) and the Power Plant (4,800 MW capacity) have a total initial investment of 8 billion USD. The project is proposed to be implemented in the South of Van Phong area, Ninh Hoa town. In the future, the Company will increase the capacity of the power plant to 9,600 MW and the storage will also increase to 15 million m3 with an investment of about 15 billion USD. Millennium Company hopes to bring Vietnam in general and Van Phong area in particular to become an important LNG center of Southeast Asia, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province and the whole country. Therefore, the Company hopes that Khanh Hoa province will support enterprises in procedures to implement the project. The most important thing is to support the planning of project sites of about 600 hectares; integrate the project into the national electricity development planning.
